Sear bacon in a heavy-bottom skillet wide enough to fit the whole strip over medium heat until crispy, remove from pan.
While the bacon is cooking, take the ground beef out of the package, break in half and form into two patties, each about 3/4” thick, salt each patty on each side with ½ teaspoon kosher salt.
fter the bacon is out of the pan, heat it back up to a Medium-High heat and place the patties in the pan. Cook 3 minutes on each side (don’t move it around the pan while it’s cooking - the burger needs to stay still to form a nice crust). Set one slice provolone on each patty, turn the heat off, and cover the skillet. This will melt the cheese and allow the burger to rest. Remove from the pan after a minute or two.
Assemble the burger by toasting the buns, setting one patty on each bun, and topping with a leaf of lettuce and a couple strips of bacon. If you want the bacon to fit neatly on the burger, cut each strip in half.
